A made-up superhero named Spider-Man 2099 can be found in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character, a future reimagining of his namesake established by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, was created in 1992 for the Marvel 2099 comic book series by Peter David and Rick Leonardi. His true identity is Miguel O’Hara, a brilliant Irish-Mexican geneticist who attempts to imitate the powers of the original Spider-Man in others and later suffers a related accident that results in half of his DNA being replaced with a spider’s genetic code. Miguel O’Hara lives in Nueva York (a renamed New York City) in the year 2099.
