In the Mortal Kombat fighting game series by Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios, Kitana is a made-up character. She makes her Mortal Kombat II debut in 1993. She is a royal from the made-up country of Edenia. She typically employs a pair of steel fans as her main weapon when performing special attacks.
Until she discovers that her real father was assassinated by Shao Kahn when he seized Edenia, the character is introduced as the daughter of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn. After that, Kitana develops into the main protagonist of the series, uniting with the Earthrealm warriors in her battle for the liberation of her world. She is also Liu Kang’s love interest from the Mortal Kombat video game.
